Greatest Snowboard Parks

After researching other blogs about snowboarding I came across a very interesting topic. Afterbang snowboarding blog, A English snowboarding fanatic, attempted to rate the top ten best mountains for snowboarders. Now I agree with most of the topics Afterbang brings up and I think he is very knowledgeable, however I must disagree with him on this one major point. Ratings of different mountains can never be completely accurate due to the fact that each snowboarder has his or her own preferences on what conditions they like to be in.

To actually rate a mountain you must take in to consideration the runs, parks, back country, resort, and how well the mountain is run. Seeing as lots of people have different opinions on these sort of things no one person can rate mountains from greatest to worst. Someone who likes back country snowboarding is bound to enjoy Whistler/Blackcomb or Mammoth Mountain more than a smaller mountain like Park City because there is more out of bounds snowboarding to do. At the same time a snowboarder who is more dedicated to tricks and half pipes would prefer Park City rather than the larger mountains.

I am not downplaying Afterbang’s blog at all this is only my opinion so others may disagree with my views. He also has a very interesting blog on snowboarding and it put together very well. His blogs website is www.afterbang.co.uk/

Snowboarding

I would like you to imagine you are on the top of a mountain sitting in a chair that has been created by digging your bottom into the fresh powder, overlooking what seems like miles and miles of ridge line. The crisp air gently brushes upon your face and fills your lungs. Beneath you lies an open area, without a single marking practically begging you to fly down. The run is steep, but it is also forgiving since there lies three brand new feet of the softest, fluffiest snow the world has to offer. You slowly rise brushing off the snow that has accumulated on your pants and jacket. You adjust your goggles and take one final breath as you lean on your back foot and adjust your snowboard so it is vertical to the mountain. It is as if you have grown wings and began to sore as you speed down the run. When you turn a wall of snow is shot into the air only to be shattered by yourself as you race right through it continuing on your way down the mountain. This to me is the true definition of freedom. Snowboarding offers you an adrenaline rush unmatched by other sports. For many however it is not just a sport, snowboarding is a lifestyle. My blog will continue to talk about snowboarding and everything that goes along with it such as the competitions, back country hiking, styles, and gear.
